Energy calibration of ion-beam accelerators with neutron and gamma nuclear reactions between 2 MeV and 4 MeV

The accurate knowledge of the beam energy is first importance in most applications using ion beams delivered by electrostatic accelerators. Regular calibration thus required. standard procedure to use neutron thresholds and well known gamma-ray resonances. However, only a few points are available between 2 MeV 4 despite need such energies, for instance, nuclear reaction analyses. In this work, suitability 27Al(p,γ)28Si 45Sc(p,n)45Ti resonances has been studied specific range comparison with well-established energies. methodology used experiments data treatment fully detailed. usefulness these shown through several campaigns that led complete two accelerator based facilities from 500 keV up MeV.
